ACTIVATE! Resources to Support ALIGNMENT

Hello!

Thank you so much for attending our ACTIVATE! workshop. This is a page I created so that students have resources to return to regarding how to locate & use your Heart-Codes.

LOCATING your heart-codes:

  • Relevant questions include:
    • what is my essential nature?
    • what are my deepest values?
    • what do I feel when I align with each of those values?

USING your heart-codes:

  • Write them down (often!).
  • Read them aloud.
  • Recite them silently.
  • Check in with the feeeeeeeelings when you are deciding how to approach your day, your week, your year.

For example, one of my heart-codes is generosity, and remembering generosity has seriously affected how I do ALMOST EVERYTHING in my life.

A bit more about the mechanics of habit change:

  1. start with the heart-codes (it works, stay with them evvvvvvveryday);
  2. check in with how you are applying your heart-codes in all aspects of your life:
    • physical body (how you move, feed, nourish yourself);
    • your subtle body (mind, wisdom, and spirit);
    • your environments;
    • your relationships;
    • your work in the world (as we discussed, this is not limited to your job);
  3. regarding specific habits you want to add or subtract, study yourself and your relationship to internal and external expectations– I highly recommend Gretchen Rubin’s books Better than Before and The Four Tendencies;
    • if you need external accountability, get your community involved (feel free to comment here and find a new accountability buddy to check in around your heart-codes).
  4. try to get into the habit of focusing on the habit of practice and checking in– appreciating your overall capacity to grow is key!

Additional resources I recommend:

Habit Tendency Quiz by Gretchen Rubin: SO useful for setting yourself up for success with habits. Once you have your results, learn more about how to support your particular habit tendency in these podcasts by Gretchen Rubin:

  • Upholder: make sure to only say “yes” to what you really want to become a habit.
  • Questioner: do the research so that you are on-board with the habit.
  • Obliger: make yourself accountable to another.
  • Rebel: connect the habit to your identity or mission; do it whenever the mood strikes you.
